Does anyone ride in this weather?

This, my friends, is Chico's forecast for this week. I have found that in these tempuratures, I have to be finished riding by about 10:30am before it becomes pretty miserable. And then it doesn't start to cool down until 8pm or so. I guess this is when being down in the Bay Area during the week isn't all that bad.

UGH, yes. I've been doing 2 hour rides between 3 and 5 PM as I find it's the best time to work on my cycling tan!

108 on Monday, huh? It's all good while you're rolling along but when you stop, the sweat waterfall off your forehead begins.

I envy you! I don't sweat enough to cool my body in anything over about 80-85 degrees - hence my super early morning rides (or not at all). I dream of sweat waterfalls from my forehead.

Oh, it's not really all that. It makes a mess out of me, my helmet, and my bike. Not to mention, all the sweating I do ends up sucking all the salt out of me and I cramp, but not until after about 3 or 4 hours of riding, which I will not be doing in this weather.

Parts west in the bay area maybe the place to be. Here in the East Bay, we are about 5 degrees cooler than what you are posting there in Chico. Most of the time I dream of getting out and living in a spot like Chico. This week, when I'm not dreaming of Jeannie, I'm dreaming of some remote far off place like Big Sur. I keep telling myself that riding in this weather is far better than riding in snow.

Amen to that. Yeah, in the South Bay (where I spend most weekdays) it's been boiling too - and humid, which you don't get in Chico. I'll take Chico's heat over the Bay Area heat any day. Plus Chico has all kinds of rivers to stop off for a dip.

Yesterday in Chico it was humid but not as hot as Monday.

The nice thing about the East Bay is that at night it cools of as compared to Chico. While growing up there, I used to hate that it got "cold" at night in Martinez. Ironic, eh?
